Jammu city has come long way from tier c city tag to now tier B city. Over the last 20 years Jammu city has come on world map for various reasons. According to historians it is believed that city was founded by King (Raja) Jamboo Lochan in fourteenth century B.C. It seems king was touched by the tranquility environment in environment and decided to setup the city in area.

According to another myth he saw tiger and goat drinking water from same place. Because of this harmonies environment and serenity in environment over the last so many centuries many rulers have built various temples in city. Due to this reason Jammu city is also called as “City of Temples”. Today Jammu is favorite place for tourist for travel and pilgrimage.

Jammu City is part of Jammu & Kashmir state. The city comprises of 10 districts. City is gateway to world famous Kashmir. Tourist all over the word use Jammu city as base camp to reach different part of Jammu & Kashmir state.

Jammu Temples

City of temples has many world famous temples, pilgrims and tourist come from far of places to visit these shrines. Pilgrimage and tourism is one of the major revenue source for city.

  • Raghunath Temple: One of the finest and old temple in Jammu city. Dedicated to Lord Rama the temple was built by King(Maharaja Gulab Singh in 1835 AD. Work on temple was carried by his son King (Maharaja) Ranbir Singh and actual temple work was finished in 2860 AD. Raghunath Temple of Jammu
  • Ranbireshwar Temple: This temple more popularly known as Shiv Mandir built by King (maharaja) Ranbir Singh in 1883 AD. Temple is famous for huge shiv lingams measuring 7 and half feet. There are other small shiv lingams made of crystals in temple. Shiv Mandir Temple of Jammu
  • Bahu Fort – “Bave Wali Mata”: The fort and temple are situated at edge of city. The fort is believed to be built by King (Raja) Bahulochan way before cristanity came in exitance.   • Mata Vaishnodevi Temple: The top visited temple in India. The goddess is popular among all Indians. It is saying whoever comes for pilgrimage to temple with righteous way She is considered to fulfill anything and everything that a person wishes in a righteous way.
